Johor Bahru power outage caused by substation fire

A fire at the Kangkar Tebrau Main Intake Substation in the Tebrau 4 Industrial Area caused widespread power outages across at least 10 residential areas in Johor Bahru, including Taman Johor Jaya, Taman Molek, Adda Heights, and Bandar Dato’ Onn.

Two Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) technical workers sustained electric shocks while performing maintenance during the incident. Both individuals were transported to Sultan Ismail Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Technical teams from TNB worked to restore electricity in stages, successfully recovering full supply to the affected areas within 77 minutes. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation by TNB technical teams in coordination with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM).
