Johor Darul Ta’zim sets world record with 109 unbeaten matches

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) has set a new world record for the longest unbeaten streak in domestic league football, reaching 109 consecutive matches without a loss. The milestone was achieved following a 3-0 victory against Kuching City FC in the opening match of the 2026/27 Malaysia Super League season at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

This achievement surpasses the previous record of 108 matches held by the Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, which was established between 1989 and 1994. JDT has not lost a domestic league match since April 2021. The winning goals in the recent match were scored by Marcos Guilherme, Oscar Arribas, and Shahab Zahedi.

JDT, supported by the leadership of Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, is currently aiming for its 13th consecutive league title. Head coach Xisco Munoz noted the difficulty of maintaining such consistency in modern football, while club officials highlighted the disciplined environment and high standards that have driven the team's dominance.
