Johor police arrest two serial thieves for RM75,000 in thefts

Two former convicts, aged 26 and 27, have been arrested in Johor for a series of thefts totaling approximately RM75,000. The suspects, who were released from prison in 2023, allegedly moved to the region for work but returned to criminal activity after being dismissed from a factory earlier this year.

One notable incident involved the duo impersonating security guards to enter a data center under construction in Gelang Patah on July 28. They reportedly tied up a foreign security guard and stole copper materials valued at RM50,000, which were later sold to a third party.

Police stated that the arrests, made in separate raids in Tanjung Kupang and Kangkar Pulai on September 5, help resolve 11 reported crimes, including housebreakings, shop burglaries, and parcel thefts. The suspects typically operated between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM, targeting unoccupied premises. The 26-year-old primary suspect has 11 prior criminal records, while his 27-year-old accomplice has 31.
