Johor police detain five people over upside-down flags

Johor police have detained five individuals in connection with multiple incidents involving the improper display of the Malaysian national flag and the Johor state flag. Three separate investigation papers have been opened covering cases in the Kulai, Iskandar Puteri, and Johor Bahru Selatan police districts.

In the Kulai district, a 34-year-old woman and a 48-year-old Nepali security guard were arrested after images of inverted flags at a factory in Indahpura circulated on social media. Authorities believe the guard installed the flags under the woman's instruction. The factory was temporarily closed for one day following the incident.

In other districts, three men aged 25, 43, and 56 were also detained. All suspects are believed to be employees at the premises involved. Investigations are ongoing, and the cases will be referred to the Attorney General's Chambers for further action. Authorities have reminded premises owners and supervisors to strictly monitor the installation of national symbols to prevent such errors.
