Malaysia police raid Forest City scam hubs, 335 detained
Johor police in Malaysia launched a coordinated operation on 15 July 2026 against two organised online‑scam networks operating from the Forest City development. The raid targeted 27 high‑rise apartments and five bungalows that were used as call‑centre bases.
A total of 335 people were taken into custody, aged 20‑58. Among them were 309 Chinese nationals, 19 Indonesians, four Myanmar citizens and three Malaysians. The two gangs specialised in crypto‑investment fraud and "love‑scam" schemes aimed at foreign victims. Police seized 313 computers, 1,557 mobile phones, 17 laptops and 10 modems, along with assets worth about US$245 k and roughly MYR 1 million in equipment. The larger gang comprised 279 members, the smaller 56. Organisers remain at large and law‑enforcement officials say further arrests are ongoing.
