The Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) detained a man and a woman in their 20s during a midnight operation at a resort in Mersing, Malaysia. The individuals, who work in Johor Bahru, were found together in a room and were unable to produce marriage documentation.
According to JAINJ, the man initially claimed the pair were married, providing specific details regarding the date and location of their wedding. However, the woman stated they were not married, and subsequent checks revealed the man is already married while the woman is single. The two are reportedly colleagues who frequently meet for work. The pair were detained under Section 27 regarding khalwat offenses.
