Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone attracts $21.8 billion in investments

The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) has secured RM88.83 billion, approximately US$21.8 billion, in approved investments between January 2025 and June 2026. According to a joint statement from the inaugural Johor-Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee, roughly 45 percent of these funds, or RM40.3 billion, have already been implemented.

The approved projects are linked to 28,755 potential employment opportunities, with 12,796 jobs already associated with implemented projects. The initiative involves Singapore-based companies referred to the Investment Facilitation Centre in Johor.

Malaysia’s Minister of Economy, Akmal Nasir, stated that a blueprint for the zone is expected to launch by the end of this year, coinciding with the annual Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat. The zone spans more than 3,500 square kilometers in Johor, Malaysia, with Singapore acting as a partner to coordinate trade, investment, and cross-border connectivity. Planned improvements include enhanced ferry services, cross-border taxi services, and the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link.
