Johor students receive 5,000 free SIM packs to support digital learning

A total of 5,000 YES 5G prepaid SIM packs, valued at RM100,000, have been donated to B40 students in Johor to support digital learning and home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) sessions. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide for low-income families, particularly during periods of haze that necessitate remote learning.

The Johor Digital Connectivity Initiative is a collaborative effort involving YTL Communications Sdn. Bhd., the Raja Zarith Sofiah Johor Foundation (YRZSNJ), and the Johor State Education Department. Each SIM pack provides 50GB of high-speed data to ensure students can access online educational materials and digital resources effectively.

Hishamuddin Abdul Rahim, CEO of YRZSNJ, noted that the contribution helps prevent students from underprivileged backgrounds from falling behind due to internet access constraints. Wing K. Lee, CEO of YTL Communications, expressed hope that the donation would support students in Johor in maintaining their educational progress.
