Johor targets 200,000 new jobs by 2030 amid economic growth

Johor is targeting the creation of over 200,000 new jobs for local citizens by 2030. This goal aims to leverage high-value investments and projects to ensure economic growth translates into high-quality, high-income employment and local talent development. The state reported a GDP growth of 8.0 percent in 2025, one of the highest in Malaysia.

To achieve these employment targets, the state government is collaborating with Invest Johor, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and the federal government. The strategy focuses on attracting quality investments that benefit micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and strengthen domestic supply chains.

In addition to economic development, the Johor State Education Foundation (YPJ) has announced the Dato’ Onn Memorial Scholarship (BKDO) for secondary school students in Johor. The scholarship prioritizes low-income students, specifically those in lower secondary levels (Forms 1 to 3). Applications are open from August 17, 2026, to September 7, 2026. Scholarship amounts are set at RM600 for Forms 1-5 and RM1,000 for Form 6, with payments made directly into the recipients' SSPN Prime accounts.
