Johor targets 26,000 job opportunities this year

Johor Menteri Besar Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced that the state aims to offer 26,000 job opportunities this year. This target follows a steady upward trend in employment availability, rising from 15,000 in 2022 and 17,000 in 2024 to 24,000 in 2025.

The increase is driven by strong economic performance, with Johor recording an eight percent growth rate in 2025 and approving RM110 billion in investments, the highest in Malaysia. These developments are supported by strategic initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

To support these goals, the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) recently held the JTDC Mega Job Fair & Connect 2026 in Iskandar Puteri. The event featured 44 employers offering over 3,000 vacancies, with 60 percent of these being premium-salary positions. The state government aims to reach a total of 200,000 new job opportunities by 2030 to encourage local youth to build careers within Johor rather than migrating to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
