SUKMA 2026: Johor wins football gold and Pahang sweeps hockey

The 22nd Malaysia Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026 continue to see significant medal tallies across various disciplines. In football, Johor secured its first SUKMA gold medal by defeating Selangor 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. This victory is seen as a milestone for Johor's football development program.

Pahang achieved a double gold sweep in hockey, with both the men's and women's teams winning their respective finals via penalty shootouts. The men's team defeated Penang 4-2, while the women's team secured their third consecutive title by beating the Federal Territories 6-5.

Other notable performances include Sarawak's cycling team, which concluded its campaign with three gold and four bronze medals across MTB, road, BMX, and track events. Sarawak also saw success in aquatic sports, particularly in diving and water polo. In rugby 7s, Selangor defended its women's gold medal with a 41-0 win over Sarawak, while Kedah claimed the men's gold, ending a 20-year wait by defeating Perak 14-12. Additionally, Sabah's karate squad earned two gold medals, and Penang's Muay Thai team secured one gold medal.
