Joint List petitions to stop Ben-Gvir using home demolitions for electioneering

The Joint List has submitted an urgent petition to the Israeli Central Election Committee seeking to prevent National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his Otzma Yehudit party from using the demolition and evacuation of homes in Arab communities for electoral purposes.

The petition follows video footage released by Ben-Gvir at a residential demolition site in East Jerusalem's Al-Tur neighborhood, where he remarked that “government bulldozers do not rest for a moment.” The Joint List is requesting orders to prohibit Ben-Gvir, his party, and law enforcement agencies from utilizing demolition operations as political propaganda.

The petition further alleges that authorities have reactivated decades-old eviction files and scheduled enforcement actions to coincide with the upcoming elections on October 27. The Joint List argues these actions are intended to spread fear and despair within the Arab community to discourage voter turnout.
