Joint Sky Service to take over ground handling at Vienna Airport

Joint Sky Service GmbH (JSS) will take over the second ground handling license at Vienna International Airport starting October 25. This follows the loss of the license by the current provider, Airline Assistance Switzerland AG (AAS), in late July.

Under the new arrangement, ramp service employees will transition directly to JSS. The company confirmed that these workers will be taken over with all existing rights and previous years of service, ensuring no loss of benefits or deterioration of employment terms.

While JSS assumes the license, AAS will continue to operate at the airport as an exclusive service provider for passenger handling under the instruction of JSS. This agreement allows AAS to maintain its location long-term and continue current services until the license officially expires on October 24. This transition aims to ensure a seamless handover of ramp services.

EU regulations require major airports to have a second ground handling provider to allow airlines to choose between different service providers rather than relying solely on the airport operator.
