Joinville restaurant arson leaves four dead

A fatal arson attack at a family restaurant in the Fátima neighborhood of Joinville, Santa Catarina, has resulted in four deaths. The most recent victim, 24-year-old Letícia das Graças Teodoro, died on Tuesday after spending 17 days in intensive care with severe burns.

She follows the death of her mother, restaurant owner Alice das Graças Teodoro, who died from burns on September 6. A third victim, 52-year-old employee Lidia Regiane Lick Da Luz, also passed away in the hospital on September 12. Two other individuals were injured in the blaze; one has been discharged, while another remains in intensive care.

The incident occurred on August 29. Reports indicate that Longino Dias Batista, 49, entered the establishment seeking his former partner, who was not present at the time, before setting the fire.
