Joko Widodo diploma controversy: Roy Suryo to present witnesses

The controversy regarding the authenticity of former Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s diploma continues to escalate. Roy Suryo, a figure involved in the legal proceedings, has claimed he is prepared to present witnesses to the court. He specifically pointed toward Pasar Pramuka in Jakarta, suggesting that investigations into the market and certain individuals, including a professor referred to as ‘P’, are necessary to uncover the truth behind the alleged fabrication of the diploma.

Roy Suryo also highlighted research by former intelligence officer Sri Radjasa Chandra, which reportedly details connections between Pasar Pramuka and the diploma issue. Additionally, Roy presented documents alleging irregularities in Joko Widodo’s undergraduate thesis.

Public policy expert Bonatua Silalahi noted that the validity of a diploma depends not only on the physical document but also on the integrity of the academic process itself. Silalahi stated that if the irregularities presented by Roy Suryo are proven factual, the diploma could potentially be annulled through the State Administrative Court (PTUN).
