Joël Veltman nears West Ham United move after rejecting other offers

Dutch defender Joël Veltman is nearing a move to West Ham United after becoming a free agent following the conclusion of his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion. The 34-year-old, who made 191 appearances for Brighton, has reportedly undergone a medical and is finalizing contract details with the London club.

Veltman reportedly turned down offers from other clubs, including French side RC Strasbourg and Brazilian club Botafogo, to remain in England. West Ham, which is facing a return to the Championship after finishing 18th last season, aims to utilize Veltman’s experience to secure an immediate return to the top flight. The veteran defender has earned 28 caps for the Netherlands.
