Joma Sport founder Fructuoso López receives national sports honors

Fructuoso López, the founder and president of Joma Sport, has received significant recognition for his contributions to the sports industry and the international expansion of Spanish sporting goods.

López was awarded the National Prize for Arts and Sciences Applied to Sport for the 2025 edition of the National Sports Awards, presented by the Government of Spain. The award honors his six-decade career, which began in 1965 with a small footwear workshop in Portillo de Toledo. The ceremony is expected to be presided over by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.

Additionally, Joma Sport was honored with the ‘La unión hace la empresa’ award at the 2026 Excellent Awards. The company has grown from its roots in Castilla-La Mancha to become a global leader, operating in over 140 countries. A notable recent milestone included the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Joma outfitted 15% of participating athletes through various committees and federations.
