Jon Bernthal Labels Fear of Pit Bulls as 'Dog Racism' on Howard Stern Show
Actor Jon Bernthal, promoting the film “Spider‑Man: Brand New Day,” told The Howard Stern Show that the widespread fear of pit bulls is "dog racism," likening it to discrimination based on race or sexual orientation. He argued that any dog can bite and that pit bulls are no more likely to attack than other breeds, emphasizing that a dog's behavior is largely shaped by its owner’s training and care.
Bernthal also criticized people who adopt pit bulls to project a tough image, calling such owners "knuckleheads" and stressing that responsible ownership and proper socialization are essential. The ASPCA’s statements on breed stereotypes and the importance of early positive experiences were cited to reinforce his point that aggression is not inherent to the breed.
