Jon Bon Jovi nearly used Guns N’ Roses as album title
Jon Bon Jovi revealed that he nearly used the name of the band Guns N’ Roses as the title for Bon Jovi’s 1986 album while working in Vancouver. During the production of their third record, the band had adopted a cowboy aesthetic for publicity photos, leading Bon Jovi to believe the name of the local bar band was a perfect fit for their image.
Ultimately, the decision was abandoned, and the album was released as ‘Slippery When Wet’. Bon Jovi also recalled difficulties regarding the album’s highly-sexualized cover art, which he initially feared would be ‘career suicide’ after the record label had already printed half a million copies.
