Jon Cypher, actor in ‘Hill Street Blues’ and ‘Masters of the Universe’, dies at 94

American actor Jon Cypher has died at the age of 94. According to his family, he passed away on August 3 at his home in Central Point, Oregon, with his wife, Carol Rosin, by his side. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Cypher enjoyed a prolific career spanning five decades in film, television, and Broadway. He gained early fame in 1957 for his role as Prince Christopher in the landmark live television production of ‘Cinderella’ alongside Julie Andrews, an event that drew over 100 million viewers.

He was widely recognized for his role as Police Chief Fletcher Daniels on the acclaimed NBC drama ‘Hill Street Blues’ during the 1980s. His film credits include the 1987 cult classic ‘Masters of the Universe’ as Man-at-Arms, and the 1971 western ‘Valdez Is Coming’ alongside Burt Lancaster. His television work also included roles in ‘Major Dad’, ‘Dynasty’, and ‘Knots Landing’.
