Jon Erzinger completes 100th Mt. Quimper summit
Jon Erzinger, a resident of Sooke, celebrated his 65th birthday by completing his 100th ascent of Mt. Quimper. The milestone climb took place on Saturday, Aug. 22, accompanied by 13 hikers and two dogs.
A retired Canada Post worker, Erzinger began hiking the mountain in 2022 after moving to the community to maintain his health and fitness during retirement. He tracked his progress through a notebook and a mobile app, estimating that his 99 previous climbs covered approximately 841 kilometres and included nearly 50,000 metres of elevation gain.
