Jon Hamm stars in new MGM+ thriller ‘American Hostage’

MGM+ has released the trailer and key art for ‘American Hostage’, an eight-episode psychological thriller anthology series starring and executive produced by Jon Hamm. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the series is scheduled for a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Based on the first season of a scripted podcast, the show is set in the 1970s and depicts the true story of Fred Heckman, an Indianapolis radio reporter. The plot follows Heckman as he is thrust into a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands an interview on his radio program, threatening to kill his hostage if the demand is not met.

The series features a cast including Giovanni Ribisi, Kristoffer Polaha, William Jackson Harper, Mireille Enos, Jonathan Tucker, and Kat Cunning. ‘American Hostage’ will premiere on Sunday, September 20, with a two-episode debut, followed by weekly episodes concluding on November 1.
