During his campaign against Democrat Sherrod Brown, Husted has attributed rising electricity prices to radical climate policies under the Obama and Biden administrations, claiming the closure of 23 power plants created a supply and demand problem. However, opponents argue that the price increases are linked to the influx of power-hungry data centers and corporate tax breaks enabled during Husted's tenure in state leadership. Brown's campaign has countered that Husted is avoiding responsibility for the impact of these facilities on utility rates.
