Jon McKennedy wins first New Hampshire NASCAR race

Jon McKennedy secured his first victory at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour’s Mohegan Sun 100. The win marks a significant career milestone for McKennedy, who had previously competed in 16 races at the track without a victory since his debut in 2006.

The race was characterized by intense competition, featuring 29 lead changes. McKennedy won by a narrow margin of 0.215 seconds after a dramatic final sprint against 2022 champion Tommy Catalano. The victory was nearly jeopardized when McKennedy’s vehicle ran out of fuel immediately after crossing the finish line.

In the championship standings, Austin Beers maintains his lead despite a 19th-place finish, while McKennedy’s performance moves him up to third place in the series. The next event in the tour is scheduled to take place at Stafford Speedway.
