Jon Moxley to defend Continental Championship against Mark Davis

At AEW Grand Slam France, Jon Moxley and Gabe Kidd suffered a tag team loss to Mark Davis and Jake Doyle of the Don Callis Family. The match concluded when Davis pinned Kidd, a result that has significant implications for the AEW Continental Championship.

Following the victory, AEW announced that Mark Davis will challenge Jon Moxley for the Continental Championship at WrestleDream on October 17. Moxley has held the title since December 2025 and has successfully defended it nine times.

The event took place amidst an emotional period for the promotion following the passing of wrestler PAC. Moxley, described by referee Bryce Remsburg as the ‘Ace of the locker room,’ reportedly provided support to colleagues during the tribute proceedings.
