Jon Rahm faces uncertain future as LIV Golf contract disputes linger

Two-time major champion Jon Rahm left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in December 2023 under a reported $300 million contract. The league, now operating without Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has secured a new lead investor and is preparing a revamped "LIV Golf 2.0" with fewer events and reduced prize money. However, the league still owes Rahm up to $150 million, and analysts say much of that amount may never be paid if the league files for bankruptcy.

PGA Tour commissioner Brian Rolapp said Rahm would not receive the same reinstatement treatment granted to Brooks Koepka, noting the membership’s likely resistance. Rahm’s options remain limited to playing DP World Tour events or seeking a complicated return to the PGA Tour, while the league’s CEO Scott O’Neil hints at equity stakes for players in the new structure.
