DP World Tour announces 2027 schedule and BMW PGA Championship updates

The DP World Tour has announced several major updates regarding its tournament schedule and player concerns. The flagship BMW PGA Championship is currently underway at the Wentworth Club in England, featuring a $9 million purse and a high-profile field including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and several LIV Golf players. The Pro-Am event saw notable celebrity participation, with Rory McIlroy’s team securing a significant win.

Looking ahead to 2027, the tour is expanding its global footprint. The schedule will see the return of historic events, including the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open, the Hong Kong Open, and the Open de Portugal, which will be held at the Oitavos Dunes Links Golf in Cascais. Additionally, Spain will host two tournaments: the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship in Girona and the Spanish Open in Madrid.

Amidst these developments, professional golfer Matt Fitzpatrick has expressed security concerns regarding the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Citing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Fitzpatrick stated he is “not that comfortable” with traveling to the region, noting that his perspective has changed since becoming a father. Tour officials are currently assessing safety protocols for the final play-off events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
