Spanish world‑number‑one Jon Rahm began his US Open round at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island, aiming to improve on a modest Masters finish earlier this season. Rahm entered the tournament ranked eighth globally after two LIV Golf victories in Mexico and Hong Kong and a series of top‑ten finishes, including a runner‑up at the PGA Championship.

The links course is expected to test players with fast greens and windy conditions, and fellow contenders such as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are also in the field.
