Jon Rahm reaches separation agreement to exit LIV Golf
Jon Rahm has reached a separation agreement with LIV Golf to secure his exit from the league following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. According to court documents, Rahm has waived his financial claims against the organization in exchange for his name and image rights, as well as the rights to his “Rahmbo” and “Legion XIII” brands.
Rahm was LIV Golf’s largest unsecured creditor, with reports indicating he was owed approximately $100 million (£75 million) in addition to the remainder of a $300 million contract signed when he left the PGA Tour in late 2023. The bankruptcy filing followed the withdrawal of multibillion-dollar backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
While Rahm retains the rights to his team name, “Legion XIII,” he is prohibited from using it for a team in TGL, the indoor golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The agreement aims to provide Rahm with a “complete economic walk-away.” A judge is expected to approve the split next month.
