Jon Rahm to leave LIV Golf after rejecting new terms
Jon Rahm is set to depart LIV Golf after rejecting proposed terms for the league’s next phase, which his legal counsel described as “unacceptable”. Rahm and LIV are currently in discussions regarding a consensual separation agreement, with a court hearing scheduled for November 5.
Returning to the PGA Tour may be difficult due to current regulations requiring former LIV players to serve a 12-month suspension. Based on Rahm’s final LIV event, this could rule him out of the entire 2027 FedEx Cup season. Consequently, a full schedule on the DP World Tour appears to be a likely option for 2027.
DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings stated that players must now “make a choice,” noting that those competing on the LIV circuit in 2027 will not be permitted to hold DP World Tour membership. This policy is significant for players seeking eligibility for the Ryder Cup. Other players, such as Tyrrell Hatton, may also face similar career paths as LIV Golf navigates financial restructuring following the withdrawal of Saudi Arabian funding.
