Jon Scheyer remains at Duke despite NBA interest

Duke University head coach Jon Scheyer has addressed recent interest from the NBA, stating he declined to pursue the head coaching vacancy with the Dallas Mavericks because he feels his work at Duke is unfinished. Scheyer noted that securing his dream job at age 33 was a rare opportunity, but expressed a desire to continue building the program following recent NCAA Tournament exits.

On the recruiting front, the Blue Devils are actively targeting top prospects for the 2027 and 2028 classes. The program is reportedly monitoring 5-star center Lewis Uvwo, a Nigerian native and top-ranked prospect for 2027, who has recently taken official visits to other programs including Baylor and Kentucky.
