Jon Stewart to remain at ‘The Daily Show’ through 2028

Jon Stewart has signed a contract extension to remain with Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ through December 2028. The deal, announced by Skydance Television, ensures Stewart will continue his role as a once-a-week host on Monday nights and serve as an executive producer through the 2028 presidential election.

Under the new arrangement, the show’s news team—including Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Troy Iwata, and Grace Kuhlenschmidt—will continue to share hosting duties from Tuesday through Thursday. Stewart will continue his executive production duties alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and James ‘Baby Doll’ Dixon.

The extension comes as ‘The Daily Show’ experiences a resurgence in viewership and social media engagement. Skydance noted that the program recently achieved its strongest third-quarter audience numbers in eight years and recorded 1.9 billion views across social platforms in 2026.
