Jon Watts reportedly tapped to direct Star Wars: Episode 10

Reports indicate that Lucasfilm has selected Jon Watts to direct the first film in a new Star Wars trilogy, potentially beginning with Episode 10. Watts, known for directing the modern Spider-Man trilogy, previously worked with the franchise on the Disney+ series ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’.

Simon Kinberg is reportedly writing the screenplay for the new trilogy. Kinberg, recognized for his work on ‘X-Men’ and ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’, has allegedly been working on the scripts since late 2024. While these developments suggest a continuation of the Skywalker Saga, neither Disney nor Lucasfilm has officially confirmed the project or provided a release date.
