Jonah Wheeler defends stance on transgender issues in New Hampshire

New Hampshire State Representative Jonah Wheeler has expressed continued opposition to transgender ideology, drawing criticism from within his own party. Wheeler, a Democrat representing Hillsborough, released a video condemning gender ideology and defending legislation aimed at protecting sex-segregated spaces.

In his statement, Wheeler argued that transgender activism undermines women’s rights to specific spaces and criticized the medicalization of gender identity. He cited the experiences of detransitioners to argue against the necessity of drugs and surgery for gender transition. His comments gained national attention after being reposted by author J. K. Rowling. While Wheeler is running unopposed in his upcoming primary, his stance has drawn comparisons to Jim Crow-era segregation from fellow Democrats.
