Jonas Antunes to lead ABTA following Oscar Simões
Jonas Antunes will succeed Oscar Simões as the president of the Brazilian Association of Pay TV (ABTA). The leadership transition was announced during the +TV Forum event in São Paulo.
Simões, who has led the association for 14 years, will remain in his position until December to oversee the transition. The formalization of the new appointment will occur following the entity's assembly scheduled for September. The transition plan received unanimous approval from the association's board of directors.
Antunes, currently the legal and regulatory director at ABTA, has been with the organization for 11 years. His management strategy aims to focus on continuity and trust, specifically utilizing cooperation between public and private sectors to combat piracy as a foundation for broader sectoral advancement. The change comes as the audiovisual market undergoes shifts due to the expansion of streaming services.
