Jonas Vingegaard to end season early due to injury
Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard will not compete for the remainder of the season, his team Visma-Lease a Bike announced on Monday. The 29-year-old is still recovering from a broken collarbone sustained during the 15th stage of the Tour de France.
Vingegaard, who was in second place overall at the time of his crash, stated that the injury has delayed his training restart, making it impossible to return to peak form in the immediate future. He indicated that his focus will shift toward preparing for the 2027 season.
Earlier this year, Vingegaard achieved a significant milestone by winning the Giro d’Italia, becoming only the eighth rider in history to win all three Grand Tours after previously securing victories in the Tour de France (2022, 2023) and the Vuelta a España.
