Jonas Vingegaard's performance claims and wife's clarification dominate cycling talk

Danish rider Jonas Vingegaard told teammate Mattias Skjelmose in a podcast that he entered the Tour de France at his best level, but a crash in stage 15 broke his collarbone and forced his withdrawal. Skjelmose highlighted Vingegaard’s belief that he was "better than ever" and attributed his time loss to the exceptional form of Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar.

Separately, Trine Vingegaard, the cyclist’s wife, said her earlier comments about the heavy burden of professional cycling had been misunderstood. She clarified that the issue was not the amount of time Jonas spends away from home, but his introverted nature and dislike of long periods on the road, stressing that her remarks were about his character rather than family priorities.
