Jonatan Viale faces criticism following Martín Fierro awards

Journalist Jonatan Viale has become a focal point of controversy following the Martín Fierro awards. His program, ‘Pan y circo’ on Radio Rivadavia, won the award for daily afternoon journalistic cycle in AM, but the recognition has triggered significant backlash on social media.

Critics have linked the award to a February 2025 incident involving an interview with President Javier Milei. During that broadcast, Santiago Caputo reportedly intervened to interrupt questions regarding the legal implications of the $LIBRA cryptocurrency. While Viale previously admitted to lacking firmness and agreeing to remove that segment to prevent the interview from being canceled, critics argue the award undermines journalistic integrity.

Additionally, Tamara Pettinato used her acceptance speech for the Martín Fierro de Radio to make a pointed remark toward Viale. While she characterized the comment as humor, she noted that it stemmed from past professional friction, alleging that Viale had previously insulted her on air.
