Jonathan Biggins stars in Paul Keating theatrical production in Melbourne
The play ‘The Gospel According to Paul’, written and performed by Jonathan Biggins, is currently being staged at the Arts Centre Melbourne. The production offers a comedic and acerbic retrospective of the life and career of Australia’s 24th Prime Minister, Paul Keating.
Biggins portrays Keating through a mix of contemporary political commentary and historical storytelling. The performance covers Keating’s upbringing in Bankstown, his early political involvement with the ALP, and his rise through the ranks during the Whitlam years to his tenure as Treasurer and Prime Minister. The show also explores his relationship with Bob Hawke and his views on the current Australian political landscape.
The production features a stylish, maroon-coloured set designed by Mark Thompson and incorporates music and visual slides to facilitate the storytelling.
