Jonathan Bolingi recovers from life-threatening coma
Congolese footballer Jonathan Bolingi, currently playing for Jwaya in the Lebanese league, has shared his recovery from a life-threatening medical crisis. Three years ago, while traveling in Congo, Bolingi contracted a severe lung infection that led to him being in a coma for 30 days.
Bolingi revealed that during his hospitalization, medical professionals informed his mother that there was no longer any hope for his survival. Despite the severity of the situation, he eventually recovered and received medical clearance to return to professional sports.
A former player for Belgian clubs Standard Liège and Royal Antwerp, Bolingi's career has spanned several countries, including stints in Thailand, Serbia, and Switzerland. He made an emotional return to competitive football in March 2025.
