Jonathan David joins Atlético Madrid on loan from Juventus

Canadian striker Jonathan David has joined Atlético Madrid on a season-long loan from Juventus. The deal includes an option for the Spanish club to make the transfer permanent for €25 million at the end of the season.

David arrives in Madrid seeking to rediscover the form he displayed during his tenure at Lille, where he scored 109 goals in 232 appearances. His recent season at Juventus was considered disappointing, yielding only 8 goals and 5 assists in 46 matches.

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone expressed high expectations for the 26-year-old, stating, “We need the player he was at Lille.” David noted that the attacking nature of LaLiga should suit his playing style and expressed readiness for the new challenge.
