Jonathan Navarro wins 50km Tierras del Diablo race in Balcarce

Jonathan Navarro, an athlete from Olavarría, won the general classification and his category in the 50-kilometer ‘Tierras del Diablo’ mountain race held in the Balcarce hills on October 11. Navarro completed the technical course with a time of 4 hours, 57 minutes, and 6 seconds.

The race was characterized by extreme difficulty, featuring over 2,000 meters of accumulated elevation gain, technical terrain with rocks and mud, and challenging climbs. Navarro noted that while he was in 10th place at kilometer 13, he managed to overtake the leaders during a difficult climb at kilometer 17.

Navarro, who typically specializes in road and track ultra-distance events rather than mountain trail running, stated that the victory was unexpected. He mentioned that the race was a birthday gift and his primary goal was to gain experience. His next scheduled competition is the ‘El último hombre en pie’ ultra-endurance race in Dolores in January.
