Jonathan Rowe joins Atalanta in 40 million euro transfer

Jonathan Rowe has completed a high-profile transfer from Bologna to Atalanta in a deal worth 40 million euros. The transaction structure includes a 5 million euro loan fee, a 30 million euro mandatory buyout, and an additional 5 million euros in bonuses. Atalanta sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli noted that the club had been tracking the English winger for some time, describing him as the perfect profile for Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation.

The transfer follows a period of tension between the player and Bologna's CEO, Claudio Fenucci, who accused Rowe of bringing negativity to the squad. Rowe has declined to comment on these allegations, stating, “those who know me know the truth. I prefer not to talk about it.”

Rowe arrives at a critical time for Atalanta, which has struggled with offensive production, scoring only six goals in its first seven official matches. During the international break, Rowe is working at the Zingonia training center with Sarri to integrate into the squad and improve the team's goal-scoring capabilities as they compete in Serie A and the Conference League.
