Jonathan Toews Mulls One-Day Return to Chicago Blackhawks

Jonathan Toews announced his retirement from the NHL in June after 16 seasons and three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks. The 38‑year‑old, who spent the 2025‑26 season with the Winnipeg Jets following health issues, recorded 11 goals and 29 points.

Patrick Kane, Toews’s former teammate, recently re‑signed with the Blackhawks on a two‑year, $16 million deal. Kane said on the Pardon My Take podcast, "I said, 'Hey, maybe you come back for a year?' He was like, 'I'm thinking about it.'" Toews later told The Athletic that he was "straight‑up jealous" that Kane would be back in Chicago. Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson confirmed the club would be interested in offering Toews a one‑day contract so he could officially retire as a Blackhawk.
