Jonathan Vatsa resigns from APC in Niger State

Jonathan Vatsa, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, has resigned from the ruling party after 13 years of membership. Vatsa, a former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, communicated his decision in a letter dated October 18, 2026, addressed to the APC chairman of Gulu Anguwa-Gulu Vatsa Ward in the Lapai Local Government Area.

Vatsa stated that his decision was personal and followed consultations with family, friends, and political associates. He expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities provided during his tenure. His political history includes membership in the Action Congress of Nigeria prior to the 2013 APC merger, serving as the party’s pioneer publicity secretary in Niger State, and contributing to the 2015 general election victory.

During his career, Vatsa held several government roles, including Commissioner under former Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and Special Adviser to Governor Umaru Bago. He has recently been a vocal critic of the Muslim-Muslim ticket arrangement at both presidential and governorship levels leading up to the 2027 general elections.
