Jonathon Cooper returns to Denver Broncos practice

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper has returned to team practice after spending six weeks on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List. His absence followed two arrests in June involving domestic violence allegations and a dispute with his former girlfriend.

Cooper faces five charges, the most serious being felony second-degree strangulation. While he declined to discuss the specifics of the legal case, which is scheduled for trial in March, he addressed the media regarding his accountability.

“Nobody’s perfect, but there’s no excuses,” Cooper stated. “I do hold myself accountable and things are going to sort themselves out. I promise that.” He also expressed apologies to those affected by the situation, noting the seriousness of the matters.

The NFL has not yet issued a final ruling on potential disciplinary action, which may include a suspension once the legal proceedings are resolved.
