Jongno-gu extends Kim Tschang-yeul exhibition

Jongno-gu has announced the extension of the exhibition ‘Kim Tschang-yeul, Traces of Water Drops’ at the Jongno-gu Kim Tschang-yeul Artist's House until December 20, 2026. The decision follows high public interest, with approximately 20,000 visitors recorded since the facility opened on May 28.

The exhibition focuses on the artist's Hanji (traditional Korean paper) works and features 24 pieces from the Jongno-gu collection, including 19 paintings, 4 prints, and 1 drawing. It also showcases preparatory works and finished pieces from his representative series, ‘Water Drops’ and ‘Regression.’

The Kim Tschang-yeul Artist's House is the only preserved studio of the artist, who lived and worked there for 30 years until his passing in 2021. The district purchased the residence through an agreement with the bereaved family to transform it into a public cultural facility. The site includes two exhibition rooms on the first floor, a cafe and ticket office on the second floor, and a restored underground studio.
