Joni Mitchell obtains U.S. citizenship to vote
Folk music legend Joni Mitchell has announced she has obtained United States citizenship. The 82-year-old Alberta-born artist stated that her decision was motivated by a desire to vote after living in the U.S. for over six decades.
Mitchell clarified that she intends to maintain her Canadian citizenship, describing herself as a “proud Canerican,” a term she shares with fellow Canadian musician Neil Young.
In addition to the citizenship announcement, Mitchell revealed an upcoming book titled “NEWS,” scheduled for release on November 4. The book will feature 23 of her paintings that address current news cycles and her perspective on the modern world.
