Jonny Lomax returns to action ahead of St Helens retirement

St Helens playmaker Jonny Lomax has returned to action following an 11-week absence caused by a fractured jaw. His comeback occurred during a 34-6 home loss to the Leeds Rhinos, where he provided the assist for the team's only try.

Lomax, who is set to retire at the end of the current season, has been praised by St Helens coach Eamon O’Carroll for his resilience and leadership. O’Carroll highlighted Lomax’s ability to overcome significant adversity, noting that the player has undergone approximately 20 surgeries throughout his career. O’Carroll described Lomax as a role model for younger players due to his team-first mentality.

Regarding his future, Lomax expressed uncertainty about his post-playing career. While he has completed studies in physiotherapy, he intends to take time after his retirement to explore new passions and spend time with his family.
