João Almeida joins Portugal's cycling squad for Montreal World Championships

Portuguese cyclist João Almeida has been added to the national squad for the Road Cycling World Championships in Montreal, Canada. Almeida, considered the country's top cyclist, joins an 18-rider roster for the event.

The men's road race team includes Afonso Eulálio, Nelson Oliveira, António Morgado, Ivo Oliveira, and Tiago Antunes. Nelson Oliveira and Ivo Oliveira will also represent Portugal in the time trial category. Selector Valter Sousa noted that the Montreal course is highly demanding due to its 273.7-kilometer distance and cumulative fatigue, requiring a selection capable of responding to various race dynamics.
